Who are we?

The members of Students Serving Scouting (SSS) come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are veteran campers who actively participated in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, some enjoy camping, but were never in an official organization, and some had never been camping until they met us! Regardless of how much or what kind of outdoors experience you have, we encourage all who are interested in the outdoors to join SSS!

Objectives:

Our objectives are to provide students with a way to get involved in the local scouting organization and assist in their programs no matter what previous scouting experience the student has.  We also provide students currently enrolled at college a chance to experience the outdoors through camping and other programs.

Service:

We serve the scouts in the local area, from the unit level to the council level.  Every fall semester, we'll assist in staffing Webelo's Woods. Webelos is an opportunity for Cub Scouts to locate a Boy Scout troop they are interested in joining.  Every spring semester, we host the Arrowmoon District Camporee. An awesome adventure for us to lead scouts in learning new skills and forming new relationships with other troops, all through fun stories like MASH, Gilligan's Island, or Monty Python. From time to time, we will teach merit badge classes, conduct equipment shakedowns for Scouts heading to Philmont Scout Ranch, and take part in Courts of Honor.

Socials:

We are a group of people with similar interests that want to meet each other and have fun! We hold get-togethers where we cook up some great food and hang out. We often grab a bite to eat and socialize after meetings. We also attend various athletic events together, including football games!

Outdoors:

Staying true to our scouting heritage, we go on camping trips every month during each semester.  Whether it be a short drive to Camp Arrowmoon or a long haul for Spring Break trips, you can bet that it'll be a great time with the SSS!
